Proper information has ensured Sufia's form fill-up for SSC examination this year. Taking part in the examination became uncertain for Sufia for not having enough money for form fill-up which was claimed by the school authority violating the rules of the government.

Sufia Akhtar is a candidate for the SSC examination in this year. She has secured a good result in the test examination and has been selected to sit for the SSC examination. She is the daughter of Abul Sikder, a poor fisherman who catches Hilsha fish in the river of Tetulia. Abul skidder lives with his family near the Information Centre of Arojbegi under Dosmina upazila of Patuakhali district. He maintains his family through hardship and lives hand to mouth. As a poor fisherman Abul Sikder was unable to fulfill all the demands of his meritorious daughter Sufia, yet she is continuing her study facing extreme poverty.

However, her student life was about to end as her father failed to provide examination fees of tk. 2300 demanded by school authority. When Sufia's father went to school managing only Tk.1000 for the form fill up of her daughter, the school authority claimed Tk 2300 as fees including board fees and school fees. Sufia’s father Sikder was unable to pay that amount of money for his daughter’s examination fee.

Sikder went again to the Headmaster of the school with TK 1300 and urged him to consider his daughter's case and to give her change to fill up the SSC examination form. But the Headmaster refused his appeal.

Having no alternative way Abul Sikder appeared in the Information Centre of MMC at Arojbegi and disclosed his problem. The team leader and committee members of the Information Centre informed him that the actual fees for SSC form fill-up is less than tk. 1000, which was published in different newspapers by national education board. Then the committee members of the Information Centre went to nearby school and asked the Headmaster why they are taking additional money for form fill-up. They also placed the actual information to him showing the notice published in the newspaper.

The committee of the Information Centre along with other guardians of the SSC candidates told the Headmaster that they would complain against the school authority to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Education Board if they don’t take any initiative in this regard. In one stage the authority of the school called an emergency meeting of School Managing Committee (SMC) and took decision to take Tk. 1000 only instead of Tk 2300 as fees for form fill up of SSC examination.

The authority of the school refunded the additional money that they had taken from other guardians. A total of 42 guardians of the student were benefited from this event.Later, Abul Sikder said that his daughter Sufia would be able to appear in the SSC examination now as the Information Centre provided real information about the fees of form fill up and thus helped him. “Not only I but also all the guardians of SSC candidates were benefited by receiving information about the fees of SSC form fill up” Sikder added. He also said “I am deprived from different facilities as I am illiterate and I don’t know about necessary information.”
