Mass-line media center (MMC) is a media sector NGO working in the sector of human rights and good governance. Mass line media center had conducted a pilot project tiled “Information Center for Women and Children”. Under this project 210 daily local and national newspapers were scanned to identify the violence occurred on the women and children throughout the country. By scanning the daily newspaper a data bank was developed on women and children issue. From this experience MMC has observed that most of the violence such as acid throwing, killing, abduction, rape and killing etc is conducted by the youth. MMC has also identified that most of the time youth are influenced by the powerful or the influential. From this observation MMC has realized that, as youth are the main culprit for conducting this violence, youth could stand against this violence, if motivated properly. From this observation MMC has proposed this project titled as “Media advocacy against the youth violence by the young journalists”. Under this project 64 young journalists from 64 districts aged below 25 years would be selected and be oriented on civic journalism on violence issues. After the orientation they would write quarterly report on violence done by the youth in their own areas. Beside a quarterly magazine on violence is proposed in this project.
