Project context : Mass-line Media Centre, a national, media-based NGO has undertaken a project titled `Agami’ with the support of Plan Bangladesh. The main objectives of the project are to create an enabling socio-political and cultural environment for the children to ensure their potential growth where the children will have the opportunity to express their fearless freedom of expression through media and to capacitate young journalists and strengthen media networking on Child Rights issue.
Initially the project was designed for three months with the plan to implement it in 64 districts of the country. Yet, Plan Bangladesh afterwards decided to cover only 32 districts in the inception period considering some risk factors like time constraint, indecision regarding formation of children groups, children’s involvement in their SSC & HSC examination etc.

MMC has successfully implemented the first phase of Agami project covering 32 selected districts within the country. The 2nd phase of the project has been started since August 2008 and the duration of the running phase is 10 months (August 2008 to 31 May 2009). Developing wall magazines and arranging children fair remains major activities for this period and presently the project activities are being implemented in all 64 districts of the country.

A number of 64 young journalists from 64 districts and children from 64 CCU’s are engaged with AGAMI project. Young Journalists are involved in the process of forming CCUs, implementing the activities of CCUs and publishing reports in local and national media. CCU members will prepare quarterly wall magazines with the theme Learn without fear and they will participate in the Divisional & National level events also. The expectation of the project is to involve 64 young journalists and children from 64 CCUs in order to implement the project activities by them and this target has been achieved. The Head teachers & other teachers of selected schools and the parents are also participating in the project activates. Children’s participation has been ensured on the basis of pre-consultation with their parents and they have extended their cooperation in promoting child rights and especially in ensuring children’s right to participation and protection as well.
